Your data stays on your computer
What Taxpresso keeps on your computer, what Claude sees, and how to set Claude’s privacy settings.
On your computer
Taxpresso is an extension that runs inside Claude Desktop, on your computer. Your answers and documents stay in a folder you own, Documents/Taxpresso, unless you chose another one. The extension makes no requests over the internet: no server, no account, no tracking. The dashboard runs on your computer only.
What Claude sees
Claude, the AI you talk to, runs under your own Claude account. It sees what you write in the chat and the documents it reads with you, to suggest values that you confirm. Taxpresso only reads the documents in your folder, never your chat history.
Your settings in Claude
In Claude’s settings, under Privacy, you decide whether your chats may be used to improve Claude. Set this before you start, and delete your tax conversations once your return is done.
You sign in, you transmit
To fill in the official online declaration, you sign in to your e-démarches account yourself. Claude never types your passwords and never presses Transmettre: you do. The online declaration keeps what you enter and stays editable until you transmit it, and you remain responsible for the figures you declare.
Look after your folder
It’s a normal folder: back it up or delete it like any other. It’s as safe as your computer, so protect your computer with a password and turn on disk encryption.
Check for yourself
Taxpresso is open source: anyone can read its source code and check what it does.
Based on the 2025 Geneva tax guide, the latest published, the 2026 federal instructions and the laws in force. Official pages checked on 13 October 2026. These guides explain how things work. They don’t replace the official documents or tax advice. If in doubt, ask the cantonal tax office (AFC).
